  • Changing Mat

    Dear Kristen,

Here's a video of you playing with you changing mat. Sometimes, you just love to rub your hands all over it just to feel the bumpy texture on it. Mummy remembers having  a changing mat like that when she was a baby too (possibly it was the photos that Grandpa Victor had of her lying on it).

  • Hop Hop Hop!

    Dear Kristen,

Today you did something new. While looking through your Brainy Baby book, we turned to a page where there was a picture of a rabbit. So Mummy imiy.tated a bunny's paws and said hop hop hop while bouncing her hands together. At first you waved your hands funny, but at the second try, you did a hop hop hop but with your hands apart. You were so impressed by yourself and smiled so brightly at me! Daddy and Mummy started cheering for you and you kept doing it again and again!

And you do something strange when we cheer for you. You mash your head into the pillow... Yah.. Strange but cute. I guess you get shy when we cheer for you? I really can't figure this one out.

  • Happy Birthday Lau-Ma & Lau-Kong!

    Dear Kristen,

On Saturday evening, we went to Peach Garden at Thomson Plaza to celebrate Lau-Ma and Lau-Kong's birthday. They're Grandpa Vincent's Mummy and Daddy by the way. On our way there, you fell asleep. Fortunately too! Because Daddy and Mummy mistook the Peach Garden for the one at Thomson (near to Thomson Medical Centre where you were born) which was where we had celebrated Granny's Mummy's birthday at. Complicated I know... Probably a fashion to celebrate birthdays at Peach Garden?

Anyway, you woke up when we finally arrived at the correct Peach Garden. Too bad, you were extremely shy at the dinner and refused to show everyone your amazing 'tricks'! You're definitely expensive and don't show your tricks to just anyone right?

Anyway, you finally warmed up towards the end and you were bouncing and happy when we reached the car. Faint.

    Love,

  • Gerbers.

    Dear Kristen,

You learnt how to open your Gerber Stars' cover lid recently. I get very amazed each time seeing how your little fingers manager to pop the lid open, peel aside the foil cover and stuff your fingers in and pull out one star. You look so cuteeee doing it... And although I really should not be encouraging you to eat the stars, you look too cute and with the effort put in, how can I not reward you?

    Parenting is difficult.

  • About the Earmoulds

    Dear Kristen,

Last Friday, you broke your right earmould. Auntie Belle said that you were pulling at it until it broke. So Daddy went to NUH on Monday to try to get it fixed, but it was broken so badly that we had to make new earmoulds. So sad, Auntie Tze Ling (The audiologist who always did your earmoulds) was not there because she went to study. Thus, we had someone new helping us make the new earmoulds for you.

Unfortunately, I think she was new and not so experienced. When we went on Tuesday, a total of 6 earmoulds were made and only one was successful! Which was a left earmould. It was such a nightmare... because you hated having anyone touching your right ear after awhile. So we went again on Thursday (this morning) and got the right earmould done in 2 tries. It had to be deep enough so that the amplification was good and the earmould had to be airtight. Phew... Daddy and I were so tired after making the earmoulds because we had to think of ways to entertain and distract you. We ended up singing songs and playing with bubbles! That worked beautifully.

Mummy is so looking forward to the weekend. She's had quite a tiring week this week. I went back only at 10+ from work today because of a deadline to meet (plus a strong desire to NOT have to go back to work during the weekend or stay late on a Friday).

So while Mummy stayed at work, Daddy went back home to take care of you. Yah, Daddy is great huh. He's able to bathe and put you to sleep all by himself. He was so tired too that by the time Mummy was at Raffles MRT, he had fallen asleep and did not see Mummy calling his handphone! He was deep asleep when Mummy got home too... No matter how she disturbed him and spoke to him... All he answered was mmmms and uhhs.

You were fast asleep too in your little cot! I wonder when you would be moving into a bed? Not anytime soon I guess, you enjoy your cot alot. You like to lean against the sides of the cot. Which is very much like me! I love to lean against the sides of the wall (one side of Mummy's bed is against the wall) when I sleep! And the cot also provides a great place for us to put you when we don't want you running around the room and touching things that you should not be touching.

I was thinking of getting you a set of chair and tables though. You looked very comfortable and like a "big girl" at the chair and table set at the hospital. Shall go to Ikea to look at chairs and tables... The only problem is where to put them.

Oh well. That's it for Mummy's entry today.

  • 15 Months!

    Dear Kristen,

That was you typing because you were on my lap. You just went down to Daddy because he turned on the TV and Elmo's World is showing. You kept saying "Mohhh". Mummy has a towel with a picture of Elmo on it, and everything you see it you say "Mohhh" too!

So anyway, you're now 15 months. Let's see... What are the new milestones you have reached this month?

    • Mastered the art of escaping from the high chair even with the strap on and the tray pushed in on you
    • Start eating harder food like rice... Less porridge.
    • Walk extremely fast... are you running??
    • Signal "come here"... Grandpa Vincent taught you that to call Rex.
    • b vcc

And "type..."... You're back here on my lap. Better go.

  • Ipoh Koon

    Dear Kristen,

Ipoh Koon is back in Singapore and she bought you lots and lots of clothes from Switzerland! Say thank you!

Anyway, for someone you hardly see (a few times a year), you sure get along well with her when she's back!

See... You're talking on the phone with her!
