Dear Kristen,
On Monday, we went to Tony Roma's for dinner to celebrate Uncle Kelvin's birthday. While waiting for the food to arrive, we went to see the fishes in the aquarium and pond just outside of Tony Roma's. You got to try a couple of french fries, a little mushroom soup and some bread. You liked them alot! Yummy...
We (Daddy, Mummy and YOU!) walked back from Tony Roma's to the carpark about two Suntec towers away (to Starbucks!) Yes... You walked so much and you were so happy running about by yourself. It took a long time to get to the car too.
When we got back, the strangest thing happened. While trying to put you to bed with your night-time milk, you bit your bottle and started pushing the bottle away. Thinking that you wanted to play, we let you roll around the bed and when there was absolutely no sign of sleepiness, we brought you out to the living room to play a little till you got tired. When you looked sleepy, we brought you back to the bedroom to give you milk. However, you drank a little then pushed it away and started wailing. Mummy and Daddy were so confused. Finally, Daddy just carried you with you hugging your bolster until you fell asleep. Thinking it was probably the food we fed you during dinner that caused you to be full we didn't think much about it.
On Tuesday morning, you woke up and we tried to give you milk again but you refused it! At that point Mummy suspected something was wrong and was feeling pretty guilty about giving you yummy food the night before. Finally, Mummy told Auntie Belle to just try to feed you the milk by a cup or spoon. You ate your solids fine... and still continued rejecting the bottle... but so it turns out, you didn't mind as much drinking your milk by a cup!
On Tuesday night, Daddy suggested giving you the milk from this Nike bottle that we had because Grandpa Vincent said that it was possibly your gums that were hurting. And lo and behold, you drank from it. So it was not the milk that you were rejecting, but the milk bottle! So for the next day and on Thursday, you drank your milk from the Nike bottle.
Then, tonight, Mummy decided to follow Grandma's suggestion about using a teat with a bigger hole because she said you were probably frustrated by your current teat (it's a Y-teat that releases liquid only when sucked and moves really slowly). The new teat is a L teat that has milk that just flows out. At first you refused it, but when Daddy cheered and clapped each time you tried, you were encouraged and started drinking more from the bottle. In fact, you enjoyed it so much you did not want to let go even when the bottle was empty.
Phew~ For a while there, I thought we'd end up being the cuckoo parents who gives their baby milk in a Nike sports water bottle....
Love,
Mummy
